$10K Reward For Information On Who Killed A Troy Teenager
In today’s environment, when people all over the world are protesting police brutality and chanting “Black Lives Matter,” it’s sad to see a young man’s life senselessly cut short. That’s exactly what happened to a young man in Troy, New York on June 5.
It was around 10:45 p.m. on June 5 when officers on patrol heard gunshots in the area of Sixth Street and Swift Street. The officer followed the sound of gunshots and discovered 18-year-old Donovan Clayton lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. The officer attempted CPR on the young man until he was transported to Samaritan Hospital. Unfortunately, 18-year-old Donovan Clayton could not be revived and succumbed to his injuries.
According to WNYT, The police have very little information at this time, but they believe that Mr. Clayton was caught in the crossfire and was hit by a stray bullet. They believe that he was on his way home and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
A reward fund was started by former Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian. The reward fund began at $500, then it jumped to $5000, and now it is set at $10,000. Tutunjian began the fund to help the family get justice for Donovan. Former Mayor Tutunjian said, “We saw in Troy and other cities, a lot of rallies to commemorate black lives, and Donovan was a black life, and he lived in Troy, and he mattered. He was a young man, going to Troy High School, on the straight path”.
The police are asking the community for assistance. If you have any information please call Detective Sgt. Thomas Feeley at 518-270–4666
