Rivers ‘Patiently’ Waits as Turning Stone Announces Reopening
The Oneida Indian Nation released a statement on Tuesday saying that they plan to reopen Turning Stone Resort and Casino in June.
The plan outlines various guidelines to ensure gaming safety called the "Safer Together" plan. Meanwhile, in Schenectady, Rivers Casino and Resort remained "patiently" optimistic that as parts of New York State slowly creep back to normal, they too can begin outlining their own plan to reopen.
When casinos in the Capital Region reopen, it's a pretty safe bet that guidelines and procedures for gamers and staff will include a laundry list of changes that may take a little get used to. On Tuesday, according to News 10 ABC, Turning Stone Casino and Resort announced that they'll be open for business on June 10th, setting the tone for what we can probably expect when Rivers reopens.
The reopening comes with new strict guidelines that, according to the report, will make it mandatory for all employees and guests to wear face-covering as well as daily temperature checks for all employees.
In addition, the Oneida Indian Nation also announced that restaurants and bars will have "at least 6 feet of separation between tables" and that buffets will remain closed.
Meanwhile, closer to home Rivers Casino remains optimistic that their time is coming soon. In a message posted on their Facebook page they stated:
"To our Team Members and guests, we MISS YOU! We're excited that the Capital Region is opening and we're patiently waiting for our turn" adding that they, along with others remain #SchenectadyStrong.
